Dr. Patrick Ho Lam Lai
LCSW, PhD

In my psychotherapy practice I am dedicated to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds. I take a humanistic approach to my practice, honoring each person's unique story and strengths. If you are facing life transitions, anxiety, or stress, I am here to support you with care and understanding. Whether you are navigating the complexities of aging, caregiving, cultural identity, or adjusting to life as an immigrant, I offer culturally sensitive support tailored to your experiences.

Young
People
Patrick offers psychotherapy dedicated to help teenagers navigate the unique challenges of adolescence. He provides emotional and psychological support to navigate social issues, family conflicts, academic stress, identity development, and mental health concerns.
Patrick creates a safe and confidential space where adolescents feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment.
Through therapy, he helps them develop healthy coping strategies, build resilience, and gain confidence in managing life’s challenges.

Adults &
Aging
I support individual adults through the busy stressors of life. We often manage an enormous number of responsibilities, which can also impact our mental health. During these challenging times, having support can make a meaningful difference.
When offering therapy on ageing, we can explore psychological and emotional needs in the process of growing older. We may cover major adjustments such as retirement, grief, physical changes and illness, and loneliness or isolation. We can uncover new sources of community and support, ways to cope through these shifting years of life and more.

Cantonese or Mandarin
Being fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, I can provide therapy without the need for an interpreter, ensuring a more direct and connected experience. I understand the challenges of adjusting to a different culture and the unique stressors that come with being an immigrant.

As Asian Americans, you may navigate the complexities of an interracial family, face experiences of racism, be separated from loved ones, or miss significant life events such as births, marriages, or the passing of family members.

Having experienced some of these challenges myself, I am here to offer support and guidance.

Couples Therapy
I can offer a supportive environment where couples can express their feelings and work on improving their relationship. We can identify and change difficult patterns and learn how to communicate and resolve conflict. I offer a neutral environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and engaging in productive conversations respectfully and productively.

As two individuals in a relationship, I can help support you in fulfilling individual needs and also guide you towards meeting mutual needs within the relationship.

Diversity & Immigration
Diversity and immigration is a vital part of therapy. I give space to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and immigrant experiences. I can support you with your unique challenges around cultural adjustment, language barriers, stigma, and the stress of living in a new society while also maintaining your own cultural identity.
I can guide you through managing these hardships allowing you to see and experience the resilient person you are.
